Celebrations at Eden Boys’ School, Birmingham on GCSE results day

The school community at Eden Boys’ School, Birmingham is celebrating after its pupils secured exceptional GCSE results this summer.

School staff and parents joined pupils in school as they opened the results that will enable them to progress onto the next stage of their education.

Ihsan Alom, one of the school’s top performers, is on cloud nine after achieving seven grade 9s (the highest possible grade). Ihsan has aspirations to be the first member in his family to attend university and pursue his dreams of becoming a Chartered Accountant. His outstanding GCSE grades have enabled him to secure a place at King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School to study A levels in Maths, History and Economics. Ihsan said:

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible education and support I have received during my time at Eden Boys’ School. Your dedication has shaped not only my academic journey but also my character.”

Another of the school’s high achieving pupils is Mikael Sarwar who is celebrating a sweep of top grades. Mikael achieved twelve GCSEs including one grade 9, three grade 8s and four grade 7s, and two Level 2 BTec Distinction*. Mikael, who aspires to be veterinary surgeon, plans to study A levels in Chemistry, Biology and Maths at Bishop Vessey Sixth Form Grammar School before progressing to university. Reflecting on his achievements, Mikael said:

“I’ve had a great time at Eden Boys’ School and will really miss the school. Thank you so much to everyone for helping me to get so far, I really don’t think I could have done it without you”.

Ihsan Khan has overcome significant health issues to secure exceptional results in his GCSEs. The brave and determined young man defied all odds to achieve 12 GCSEs, including two grade 9s, four grade 8s, three grade 7s, one grade 6 and two Level 2 BTec Distinction*. Overwhelmed with his fantastic performance, Ihsan said:

“I’m really pleased with my results. I really want to be a Computer Software engineer and I am determined to do it. I have a curious mind and don’t like to be in my comfort zone but rather in a challenging role, learning new skills every day.”

Through his own hard work and resilience, Zain Mohamed has not only achieved top GCSE grades but has inspired his peers to reach for the stars too. Throughout his time at Eden Boys’ School, Zain has shown remarkable aptitude and determination to become one of his year group’s highest performers. Zain has played an active role in school life and his local community, embracing social action projects, supporting his local masjid and working in a homeless shelter and food bank. In pursuit of his dream career as a pilot, Zain plans to study A levels at Queen Mary’s Grammar School in Walsall before progressing to university to study for a degree in Aviation. Zain puts his success down to hard work and focus:

“I revised daily for four hours after I arrived back from school with the determination to reach the top and make my dreams to come true.”

Sumeya Bhikhu, Principal at Eden Boys’ School, Birmingham, said:

“I wish to congratulate our exceptional pupils on their outstanding results. Today marks a significant milestone in their pursuit of their dream careers. Our pupils should be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished. They have demonstrated that with determination and a strong support network, there is no limit to what they can achieve.”
