Eden Boys’ Birmingham Under 13 Cricket Champions
The final game of the season was played against Holte Secondary School. It was a must win final game in order to Eden Boys to secure the U13’s cricket trophy. Eden Boys were led by step-in captain Hamza Asad who lost the toss and was put into bat. Eden’s new opening pair started the game well scoring on a consistent basis. Some sensible batting from AbuBakar and Hamza secured a good total with some final big hitting from Yusuf Mahmood helped post a total of 120 runs. With a massive target set for the home team Eden Boys started well with the ball, bowling consistent lines and picking up wickets due to some excellent fielding. The boys kept the pressure on Holte and as every ball passed continued to encourage one another towards the finishing line. The game ended with Holte falling short of their target by 50 runs resulting in another Eden win! The boys have now finished the season unbeaten and have won the Aston Schools U13’s cricket league, a massive achievement for their first year entering the competition. An honourable mention to all the Year 7 and 8 students who have taken part in competitive cricket games for the school and supported Eden’s journey towards cricket success.
